Do you remember the color wheel from art class? The colors directly across from each other are complimentary; they go oddly well with one another, without feeling matched. I borrowed these shades from the sun and shadows to make a refined close look at simple trunks of a birch tree clustered together. Mother Nature did not paint them this way, but I selected complimentary tones, a misty gold against a cool blue, to place a new twist on her work. Framed. A Study in Complimentary colors. 18" X 30"
