Staithes - a quaint fishing village on the northeastern coast of England - hosted me on a painting adventure. I crafted this angle several times, each with a different style, on this same scene. In this 16x20 canvas, with underlying amethyst, that sets the mood, I leave the edges with a coating of jewel tones. The plaster of the homes shone ocher in the sunset and compliment the purple edges, the blues on the water and even the green on the docks. Staithes, while simple, is gracefully picturesque.
